About this Event

International Women's Day (March 8th) is an annual celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also designed to raise awareness of women’s rights and recognition, and foster gender equality around the world.

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2020, the Parramatta Cumberland Family and Domestic Violence Prevention Committee (The Committee) recognised the achievements and hard work of women in the community development and welfare sector at a special International Women’s Day Breakfast on March 26th 2020.

This Breakfast invited women contributing to the not-for-profit and government sectors, who are passionate about justice and relieving poverty, to join us in celebrating female empowerment and inspiring continuous movement towards gender equality!

This year The Committee welcomed journalist, screenwriter, author and performer Amal Awad as our special key-note speaker. As well as contributing to major publications such as ELLE Magazine and ABC Radio National, Amal facilitates workshops covering topics such as diversity, multiculturalism, women’s issues and popular culture.

This event was proudly supported by City of Parramatta.
