Women's Health Week 2019

On 2-3rd September 2019, the Cumberland Women’s Health Centre hosted Women’s Health Week 2019. The event—a mini-expo designed to empower and inspire women to make health a priority—was held in partnership with Westfield Parramatta, who went above and beyond to create a beautiful space in their centre court for women in the community to enjoy.

With the aim of combatting the two biggest barriers for women not maintaining a healthy lifestyle: ‘lack of time’ and ‘health not being a priority’, Women’s Health Week featured stalls providing information on a range of women’s health concerns, as well as self-care activities such as free Henna hand painting, 5-minute hand massages and a meditative mandala colouring-in station. Women who attended were also able to enjoy the 100 official Jean Hailes gift bags that were given out during the event. Thanks to the efforts of participating organisations, Women’s Health Week was attended by more than 300 women across the two days including special guests, Julia Finn MP and Julie Owens MP.

We would like to thank the organisations and volunteers who participated in Women’s Health Week and generously donated their time and resources:

·         Breast Screen NSW

·         Cancer Council

·         Western Sydney Local Health District

·         Continence Foundation

·         Bailey Nelson

·         Fernwood Women's Health Club

·         Boost Juice - level 2

Finally, we would like to give a big thank you to Westfield Parramatta, without whom this event would not have been possible and, through their support, we have created this fantastic outcome for women’s health awareness in our community.
