Race to Safety

Did you know that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 16 men have experienced domestic and family violence? To be safe from violence can be a complicated journey for many people. The Race to Safety was a taste of what it takes to get help—to run in someone else's shoes.

This race was organised by Parramatta Cumberland Family and Domestic Violence Prevention Committee to raise awareness about domestic and family violence. The race was organized at Centenary Square Church Street Parramatta, NSW 2150 on Friday 9 December 2022.

The event was supported by Lord Mayor Donna Davis (Parramatta), Mayor Lisa Lake (Cumberland), the Belle Property Parramatta team, the Cumberland City Council team, NSW police and the Parramatta Cumberland Family and Domestic Violence committee. Participants were invited to give up one day to raise awareness about domestic and family violence. The race helped to raise funds to support local services to advocate for people experiencing domestic and family violence.
