White Ribbon Campaign
As a part of the 16 Days of Activism movement the Parramatta Holroyd Family and Domestic Violence Prevention Committee ran a campaign called “It’s time to talk”. Each year Cumberland Women’s Health Centre is involved in panning a breakfast where we encourage local men to stand up and become the leaders in ending violence against women. White Ribbon day is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end men’s violence against women and girls and to promote gender equality, healthy relationships and a new vision of masculinity.
This campaign’s aim was to raise awareness about family violence in the Parramatta and Holroyd areas. The breakfast was a part of this campaign and we hope all attendees left with a greater awareness of the importance of addressing family violence. We also launched the coaster and coffee cup campaign which involves distributing coasters and coffee cups to local pubs and cafes in order to raise awareness of family violence in the local community.
We encourage participants of the white ribbon campaign to demonstrate their support opposing domestic violence by being partakers of the personal pledge and wearing the white ribbon. With this commitment within our society we are taking positive steps to bring a difference.
