This year Cumberland Women’s Health Centre is proud to have Multicultural NSW as our partners for the Unity Project. This program was developed as a community building project for women varying in age and who are Aboriginal, refugees or newly arrived immigrants who speak little English.          The Unity project aims to: address and reduce barriers of prejudice, ignorance, stereo-typing, and social exclusion and isolation; foster social inclusiveness through emerging new connections and an appreciation for cultural and religious differences; assist disadvantaged women and girls to build their self –esteem and self-confidence, so that their self-empowerment may enable them to become positive contributors in their local communities; address cultural conflicts that arise inter-generationally between participants raised in another culture, and their children raised in urban Australian communities- thus strengthening familial bonds; improve communication skills, enabling the participants to improve their capacity to engage in their local English speaking...
